Movie fans of 007 will remember Tilly Masterson, secretary to the evil Auric Goldfinger in “James Bond vs. Goldfinger.” The actress who gave life to the character, Tania Mallet, passed away on March 30, 2019, at the age of 77. “In this moment of great sadness, our thoughts are with his friends and family,” publishes the franchise’s Twitter account.

Born on March 18, 1951, in Blackpool (Lancashire), in the north-east of England, Tania Mallet was a cousin on her father’s side of the prestigious actress Helen Mirren . Very young, she began her journey as a model, with enormous success on catwalks, and appearing on the cover of magazines, but she dreamed of making her fortune as an actress. That’s why she went to some casting.

Someone sent some photos of her in a bikini to Cubby Broccoli, producer of the James Bond saga, who decided to call her for a test, with a view to appearing in  From Russia with Love  as Tatiana Romanova, but in the end they chose actress Daniela Bianchi in its place. Despite everything, she was called back for the next installment, her third, where she gave life to the villain’s faithful assistant. The latter’s faithful murderer, Oddjob, ends his life when he throws a steel-rimmed hat at him. Despite the success of the tape, since she became a popular face, Tania Malletdecided to leave the cinema and return to the world of fashion. “They didn’t pay me too much. First they were going to give me fifty pounds, and negotiating I got one hundred and fifty. But I get this figure in one day as a model,” she recalled in an interview. “I didn’t like the restrictions on my personal freedom that I had during the shoot.”

He only returned to act in one chapter of the series The New Avengers , in 1976. Mallet was “a loyal and generous person who greatly supported his family with his income,” Helen Mirren explained in his memoirs.
