10. Cocoa House, Ibadan
Cocoa House, one of the tallest buildings in Nigeria, was completed and commissioned in July 1964 and 1965, respectively. It stands at a height of 105 meters, making it the first skyscraper in West Africa and the tallest building in Nigeria from 1965 to 1979. Situated in Dugbe, a prominent commercial area in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, it was funded by agricultural commodity proceeds like cocoa, rubber, and timber from the Western State of Nigeria.
Currently, Cocoa House accommodates offices for various major firms and broadcasting companies, with Odu’a Investment Company Limited occupying three floors. Additionally, Professor Wole Soyinka commissioned the Odua Museum and Hall of Fame in 2013. Obafemi Awolowo proposed this 26-storey building, utilizing funds from cocoa exportation, and the National Investment and Property Company (NIPC), a government-established property development company, carried out its commissioning.
9. The Dakkada Tower, Uyo
The Akwa Ibom State Government christened the Dakkada Tower as a “Smart Building” in 2018. It’s a 21-storey office development in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, one of Nigeria’s oil-producing states. The construction started in 2017 and was finished in 2020, with VKS Construction Limited as the main contractor. This tower stands at 108.8 meters, making it the tallest building in the south-south region of Nigeria. The ground floor houses banks and cafes/restaurants, while the 2nd to 20th floors offer office space for lease to international oil companies and corporate organizations. 8. Ministry Of Communication’s Building
The Ministry of Communication’s Building in Nigeria, standing at 357.612 feet and comprising 32 stories, was constructed in 1979. It served as the headquarters for the now-defunct NITEL and has faced two fire disasters. This historic building is presently the tallest in Nigeria and West Africa, having previously accommodated Nigeria Telecommunication and being renowned as Lagos’ first skyscraper.

6. Black Pearl Towers
Black/Eko Pearl Towers, located in Eko Atlantic, Lagos State, Nigeria is one of the tallest buildings in Nigeria. This building is a complex of five residential skyscrapers, ranging from 24 to 33 floors. These towers include Eko Black Pearl, Eko White Pearl, Champagne Pearl, Indigo Pearl, and Aqua Pearl. TAA (Tabet Atelier d Architecture) designed the project, with DHD-MEP Design and Supervision as the Electrical/Mechanical consultants and Lebanese engineers handling structural engineering. Construction management is overseen by TAA Construction, and APAVE Nigeria serves as the Site Engineering consultant. ESLA International Limited, a subsidiary of the Chagoury Group, is developing the residential towers, while Eko Pearl Construction Company and South Energyx Nigeria Ltd are the contractors.
Each tower consists of four apartments per floor, two penthouse apartments, technical and terrace floors, as well as ground and basement floors. Two and three-bedroom penthouse apartments offer views of the Lagos coastline. In total, the project spans 22,738m², providing over 560 apartment units with views of the Atlantic Ocean, Victoria Island, and Lagos Island.

The Eko Guest House includes a basement, ground floor, mezzanine, car park on levels 01-05, an emergency center on levels 06-07, a restaurant on level 08, a restaurant/meeting room on level 09, a conference room on level 10, a health club & terrace on levels 11-12, a technical zone on levels 13 and 26, staff rooms on level 14, and guest rooms on levels 15-25.

Necom House, previously known as NITEL Tower and NET Building, stands as Nigeria’s tallest building. It is a 32-story skyscraper located in Lagos, completed in 1979, and currently serves as the NITEL headquarters. A communications spire crowns the tower, serving as a beacon for Lagos Harbour. The building, made of concrete, held the title of West Africa’s tallest when it was finished. Unfortunately, two fires have marred its history, one in 1983 causing significant damage, and another in 2015 affecting its top section.
