  • RCCG Debunks Claims Linking Adeboye to Protest Against Jonathan

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has refuted claims circulating on social media that its General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye, led a protest against the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

In a statement released by RCCG Public Relations, the church described the claim as false and said a photograph being used to support the narrative had been taken out of context.

    RCCG Explains Viral Photograph

According to the church, the image showing Pastor Adeboye holding a placard was taken during a peaceful nationwide walk organised in response to a directive from the Christian Association of Nigeria during the administration of late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The statement explained that churches across the country participated in the exercise to draw attention to the killing of Christians and urge the government to improve security.

“The walk in Ebute Metta, where Pastor Adeboye participated, was part of that nationwide exercise. It was neither organised against President Goodluck Jonathan nor connected in any way to his administration,” the statement said.

    Church Rejects Political Interpretation

RCCG said the photographs from the event have been repeatedly recycled and falsely presented as evidence of a protest against Jonathan’s government.

The church stressed that Pastor Adeboye’s message during the walk focused on the value of human life and the need to protect innocent Nigerians regardless of religious background.

“It is important to note that Pastor Adeboye’s message during the walk was clear: all lives matter to God. His placard emphasised the value of every human life, regardless of religious affiliation,” the statement added.

Adeboye Has Spoken on Insecurity, RCCG Says

The church also responded to criticisms that Pastor Adeboye has remained silent on the country’s challenges.

It recalled that during the November 2025 Holy Ghost Service, the cleric publicly advised President Bola Tinubu on the worsening security situation, urging urgent action against terrorists and their sponsors.

According to RCCG, Adeboye warned that insecurity could attract foreign intervention if not addressed and called for security chiefs to be held accountable.

The statement quoted him as saying: “When they eliminate the terrorists, ask them to eliminate their sponsors too.”

    RCCG Clarifies Its Position

The church maintained that Pastor Adeboye is a religious leader and not a political office holder, adding that RCCG is not affiliated with any political party.

It stated that the General Overseer cannot dictate how elected officials govern and should not be blamed for the nation’s current challenges.

The church urged the public to verify information through its official communication channels before sharing claims involving Pastor Adeboye or RCCG.

  • Man Calls Out Pastor Adeboye After Alleged RCCG Protest Over Insecurity Was Cancelled

A Nigerian man has gone viral on social media after publicly criticising the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, over the alleged cancellation of a planned peaceful protest against insecurity in the country.

The man, who spoke in a viral video circulating online, claimed church members were initially instructed to embark on a three-day fasting programme before participating in a peaceful walk with placards to protest worsening insecurity across Nigeria.

“We Were Told There Would Be No Sunday Service”

According to him, RCCG members were informed during a church service that the protest walk would replace regular Sunday worship activities.

“Last week Sunday, we were told we would do a three days fasting which started on Friday. On Sunday, there won’t be service in every Redeemed Christian Church of God because we would head out for a peaceful walk protest,” he said.

The man alleged that after members arrived at church prepared for the protest, a fresh directive was suddenly announced cancelling the planned march.

    Accusations Against Church Leadership

Speaking emotionally in Yoruba, the man accused church leaders of remaining silent despite increasing insecurity and hardship in the country.

He further alleged that the protest was cancelled because of political influence linked to Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, who is also a pastor in RCCG.

“Just because the wife of the president of this country, Oluremi Tinubu, who is a pastor in Redeem, gave an order, you people cancelled the protest,” he said.

He also directly addressed Pastor Adeboye in the video, expressing disappointment over the alleged decision.

“Daddy, may God judge you. We’re no longer safe in this country, we’re finished. The church is ruined. Redeem members were told to hold protest, but you Daddy Enoch Adeboye stopped that protest,” he added.

    Mixed Reactions Online

The video has generated intense reactions online, with many Nigerians divided over the allegations and the role of religious institutions in addressing national issues.

Some social media users supported the man’s frustration, insisting that influential religious leaders should speak more openly against insecurity and hardship.

Others defended Pastor Adeboye and the church leadership, arguing that there was no official confirmation of any planned nationwide protest by RCCG.

As of the time of filing this report, RCCG had not released any official statement addressing the viral claims or confirming whether such a protest was ever scheduled.

The incident adds to ongoing conversations surrounding insecurity in Nigeria and growing public expectations for religious and community leaders to speak more strongly on national challenges.

    Allegation emerges in viral clip

In the video, the woman claimed she visited the pastor’s residence to deliver food when the situation allegedly changed.

The woman alleged that the pastor persisted despite her objections and later made further inappropriate demands.

  • Adeboye Defies Critics, Says RCCG Won’t Remove Oluremi Tinubu as Pastor

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has dismissed calls for the removal of Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, from her position as an ordained minister.

    Adeboye addresses growing controversy

Speaking during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption Camp, Adeboye said the church would not bow to pressure over the matter.

He stressed that RCCG decisions are guided by internal doctrines, not public opinion or political influence.

    Ordination predates presidency

Adeboye explained that Oluremi Tinubu was ordained as an assistant pastor long before President Bola Tinubu declared interest in contesting for office.

According to him, her position in the church has no connection to her current role as First Lady.

    Insists due process was followed

The cleric stated that she fulfilled all requirements for ordination within the church.

“Oluremi Tinubu was ordained as an assistant pastor over 10 years ago, followed all the church processes of ordination, and hasn’t violated the church’s guidelines, so RCCG won’t remove her despite external pressure. The church isn’t APC,” he said.

    Church rejects political interference

Adeboye also dismissed suggestions that her political status should affect her role in the ministry.

He maintained that the church would continue to operate independently of political considerations.

    From employee to employer

In a twist of fate, his son later employed the man who had once been his boss as the restaurant’s manager.

“I have a son in the USA. When he got there, he started working at a restaurant, and after some time, he got a restaurant of his own. Then he told me to come bless the place for him. I went there and prayed for him, and he began to prosper. He needed a manager, and the man who was his boss is the man he later employed,” Adeboye said.
