  • Top 10 Nollywood Movies to Watch Over the Weekend

Looking for something fresh to stream this weekend? Nollywood is not slowing down, and YouTube is currently packed with trending releases that blend romance, drama, and everyday human struggles. Some of these stories feel light and easy, others hit a bit deeper, but together they offer enough range to carry you through a full weekend binge without feeling repetitive.

    1. Two Stubborn Hearts

This one thrives on tension and chemistry. Two strong personalities collide, argue, resist… and then something slowly shifts. It’s funny in parts, but also grounded enough to keep things believable.

    2. Touching Heart

An emotional story that leans into sacrifice and forgiveness. It takes its time, which actually works in its favour. By the end, you’re not just watching, you’re feeling it.

    3. Baby Fever

This hits close to real life. A couple dealing with fertility struggles, pressure, and emotional fatigue. It’s quiet in some moments, but that silence carries weight.

    4. Plus One

Starts off playful, then gradually pulls you into deeper relationship drama. There are twists, some predictable, some not so much. Easy watch, but not empty.

    5. What Love Leaves Behind

A story about trust breaking in slow motion. Friendship, betrayal, love… everything overlaps here. The performances do a lot of the heavy lifting.

    6. Love in Ruins

More intense, more emotional. It deals with broken relationships and the long road back, if there’s even a road back at all. There’s a steady build that keeps you hooked.

    7. Can’t See You

A palace setting, a blind prince, and a nurse caught in something deeper than duty. It’s soft, emotional, and a bit different from the usual urban love stories.

    8. The Billionaire’s Daughter

Classic Nollywood formula, but still works. Wealth, secrets, complicated love. You kind of know where it’s going, but you still watch it play out.

    9. The Anchor

More reflective than most on this list. It leans into purpose, destiny, and holding on when life feels uncertain. Not overly dramatic, but it sticks.

    10. Heaven Sent

Simple, soft, and easy to digest. A love story that feels almost too smooth, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want after a long week.

    Why these movies are trending

Most of these films run between one and two hours and are available for free on YouTube, which continues to shape how Nollywood reaches its audience. The accessibility, combined with relatable storytelling, is driving their popularity, especially among younger viewers who prefer on-demand content.

  • Toyin Abraham Replies Abike Shuga Over ‘Ijakumo’ Fallout, Payment Claims

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has responded to allegations by social media influencer Abike Shuga over their past collaboration, addressing claims about payment and removed scenes in her film Ijakumo.

    What Abike alleged

Abike Shuga, who rose to prominence after appearing in Malaika, had earlier shared a video recounting her experience working with Toyin Abraham.

She claimed she was paid ₦50,000 for a role in Ijakumo, only to later discover that her scenes were not included in the final version of the movie.

According to her, she attended the premiere expecting to see her performance, but was surprised when her scenes were missing.

She also alleged that she turned down an opportunity with Funke Akindele at the time, believing Toyin Abraham’s project would offer better exposure.

    Toyin Abraham responds

Reacting, Toyin Abraham dismissed the claims, stating that Abike was paid ₦500,000 for her role in Malaika and ₦50,000 for two scenes in Ijakumo.

She explained that the decision to remove the scenes was taken by the film’s director, not her.

“I have made up my mind never to say anything cos I see her as daughter… she was paid 500k for Malaika for an upcoming, nobody will pay such,” she said.

    Defence and industry stance

The actress maintained that she has supported upcoming talents in the industry, insisting that she is among those willing to pay generously for emerging actors.

She also referenced past support she had given Abike, including assisting her with equipment.

The development has sparked reactions online, with fans debating fairness, compensation, and opportunities within Nollywood.

  • Toyin Abraham Unfollows Funke Akindele after Public Snub at Iyabo Ojo Premiere

What was meant to be a milestone night for veteran actress Iyabo Ojo has been largely overshadowed by a viral moment between two of Nollywood‘s biggest names, Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, after a widely circulated video showed Akindele appearing to deliberately ignore Abraham’s greeting at Sunday night’s premiere.

The incident occurred at the premiere of Iyabo Ojo’s film, The Return of Arinzo, held at the Balmoral Event Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    What happened

Funke Akindele was seated at the same table as Iyabo Ojo and Mercy Aigbe when Toyin Abraham came over to greet them. While Ojo and Aigbe both acknowledged Abraham’s greeting, Akindele looked away and said nothing, completely ignoring her colleague. Abraham was visibly left in an awkward position and walked away from the table.

A separate angle of the same incident shows Abraham, dressed in a purple gown, arriving at the table after the screening was about to begin, greeting those present. Akindele maintained a stern expression and did not respond.

    Toyin Abraham reacts

Abraham did not let the moment pass quietly. She unfollowed Akindele on Instagram shortly after the event and made her feelings known publicly. “I have unfollowed her. God forbid a bad thing. If I ever greet her again, that means I am a bastard,” she wrote.

Akindele subsequently unfollowed Abraham, and both actresses are no longer following each other on the platform. Neither has issued a formal statement explaining the root of the current tension.

The controversy has inadvertently dominated conversations that should have centred on Iyabo Ojo’s directorial debut. The Return of Arinzo, scheduled for a cinema release on April 3, attracted a star-studded audience, including Rita Dominic, Mo Abudu, Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Florence Ita-Giwa, AY Comedian, and Shaffy Bello. Many observers have noted that the viral snub clip has eclipsed the film’s launch entirely.

The tension between the two actresses has deep roots, though its exact origins have never been publicly confirmed by either party.

The most recent flashpoint came in early February 2026, when filmmaker Kunle Afolayan publicly criticised the use of dance skits and social media challenges as a film promotion strategy, a method closely associated with Akindele. Toyin Abraham was seen as having sided with Afolayan’s position, a stance widely interpreted as a slight against Akindele. Iyabo Ojo, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, and Mo Abudu all weighed in on the debate at the time

  • Sarah Martins Denies Blessing CEO’s Cancer Claim, Calls it a Fundraising Stunt

Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has publicly challenged the cancer disclosure made by popular relationship therapist and content creator Blessing Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, describing the announcement as a manipulative attempt to generate public sympathy and solicit funds for her partner.

The actress posted her claims on Instagram on Wednesday evening, hours after Blessing CEO’s tearful cancer video had gone viral and attracted widespread concern from Nigerians online.

    What Blessing CEO said

Earlier this week, Blessing CEO published an emotional video in which she broke down in tears, disclosed that she had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and asked Nigerians to pray for her. The video generated significant sympathy across social media, with thousands of followers sending messages of support and inquiring about how to assist her.

    Sarah Martins’ counter-claims

In her Instagram post, Martins flatly denied the cancer claim, alleging that Blessing CEO resides in the Lakwe area of Lagos and commutes regularly by bus alongside IVD. She also alleged that a Mercedes-Benz recently displayed as a gift was staged for public attention rather than a genuine acquisition. “There’s no money anywhere,” she said.

Martins went further, alleging that both Blessing CEO and IVD are currently experiencing financial difficulties, claiming that assets had been sold to manage their expenses. She described the cancer announcement as a deliberate strategy designed to attract public empathy and donations. “This cancer story is a manipulative stunt to gain sympathy and empathy from Nigerians in order to raise money to start a business for IVD,” she alleged.

    Important editorial note

It is critical to state clearly that Sarah Martins’ claims are unverified allegations. RNN.NG has not independently confirmed or denied Blessing CEO’s medical condition. A cancer diagnosis is a serious and sensitive medical matter, and no third party — including Sarah Martins — is in a position to confirm or disprove it without access to verified medical records.

Blessing CEO has not responded directly to Martins’ allegations as of the time of this report.

The controversy comes amid an already tense public dynamic surrounding Blessing CEO and IVD, with the two having previously been the subject of online scrutiny over their relationship and financial lifestyle. Many Nigerians online are now calling for verified medical evidence before drawing conclusions, while others have sided with Martins’ scepticism.

Blessing CEO is widely known as a relationship commentator with a large social media following, and has previously been at the centre of several public controversies involving Nigerian celebrities.

  • Kunle Remi Slams ₦1,300 Fuel Price, Challenges Pro-Tinubu Colleagues

Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has broken his usual silence on political matters, taking to social media on Tuesday to express frustration over Nigeria’s worsening fuel prices, erratic power supply, and what he described as a lack of accountability in government.

The actor, known for roles in several popular Nigerian productions, said the current economic reality had become impossible to ignore or stay quiet about.

“Sitting on the fence is stupid”

In a video shared on his Instagram page, Remi said he has always avoided discussing politics publicly but now considers that position untenable. “That’s the most stupid statement of anybody in Nigeria right now. We should be discussing, trying to fix things, and inquiring about what is happening in the nation. There’s nothing like sitting on the fence,” he said.

    The fuel and power crisis

Remi said petrol now sells for ₦1,300 per litre on Lagos Island, where he lives, and that residents have been running generators continuously due to a lack of stable electricity supply. He noted the financial and psychological toll this has taken, including on his own staff, who struggle to afford the higher transport costs just to get to work.

“All the things I’m working for… for what? It’s messing with my brain, and my spirit is very angry,” he said.

He also pointed to the country’s dependence on a single functioning refinery — the Dangote refinery — while other refineries across the country remain non-operational, describing government support in the sector as inadequate.

    Challenge to colleagues

Remi directly challenged fellow entertainers who he said are part of a group promoting the message that Nigerians should “relax” because President Tinubu is fixing the country, questioning whether they are truly standing for the right reasons.

He did not name any individual colleagues in the video.

Nigeria has seen significant increases in fuel prices since the removal of the fuel subsidy in May 2023, shortly after President Bola Tinubu took office. Petrol prices have risen from under ₦200 per litre at the time of the removal to well above ₦1,000 in several parts of the country by early 2026. The Dangote refinery began local fuel sales in late 2024, but prices have remained high, with the naira’s continued weakness against the dollar cited as a key factor.

Remi’s video had generated significant engagement on social media by Tuesday evening. RNN.NG will follow any responses from the colleagues he referenced. Nigerians can watch the full video on his official Instagram page, @kunleremiofficial.
