  • One Dead, Teen Critical After Violence Erupts Following PSG Champions League Victory

A football fan has died while another remains in intensive care after violence erupted in several French cities following Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League victory over Arsenal.

The unrest was reported across Paris, Rennes, Strasbourg, Grenoble and other cities as supporters celebrated PSG’s European triumph.

    Fatality and Serious Injuries Reported

Authorities confirmed that a 23-year-old man died after crashing his motorcycle into a concrete block during the disturbances.

A separate police investigation has also been launched into the stabbing of a 17-year-old male near the Champs-Élysées in Paris. The teenager reportedly suffered multiple stab wounds and remains in intensive care.

Another serious incident involved a vehicle that lost control and crashed into a restaurant terrace, leaving two people injured, one of them seriously.

    Hundreds Detained Across France

French prosecutors said 277 people had been placed in police custody in connection with the violence, including 82 minors.

The arrests were linked to a range of alleged offences, including attacks on police officers, theft, vandalism and public disorder.

According to reports, some groups set fires, damaged shops and attempted to force their way into a police station in Paris.

    Police Officers Injured

French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said 57 police officers were injured during the unrest.

He noted that incidents were recorded in 15 cities across the country as celebrations turned violent in some areas.

Despite the disturbances, authorities said planned celebrations for PSG’s Champions League success would proceed as scheduled at Champ de Mars near the Eiffel Tower.

    PSG Set for Presidential Reception

The PSG squad is expected to continue victory celebrations with an official reception hosted by Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace.

French authorities have warned that security forces will respond firmly to any further acts of violence during the celebrations.

  • PSG Retain Champions League Title After Penalty Shootout Heartbreak for Arsenal

Paris Saint-Germain have successfully defended their UEFA Champions League crown after defeating Arsenal 4-3 on penalties following a dramatic 1-1 draw in the 2026 final at the Puskás Aréna.

The victory gives PSG their second consecutive Champions League title and confirms their growing dominance in European football.

    Arsenal Strike First

The Gunners made a dream start when Kai Havertz fired Arsenal ahead in the sixth minute after being set up by Leandro Trossard. The early goal stunned PSG and handed Mikel Arteta’s side a crucial advantage.

Arsenal held their lead for much of the contest and looked on course to finally lift their first Champions League trophy.

    Dembélé Levels From The Spot

PSG found their breakthrough in the 65th minute after Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera was penalised for a challenge on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia inside the area.

Ousmane Dembélé stepped up and calmly converted the penalty to make it 1-1.

Despite chances at both ends, neither side could find a winner during normal time or extra time.

    Penalty Drama Decides The Trophy

The final eventually went to penalties, where PSG held their nerve.

Arsenal’s hopes suffered a major blow when defender Gabriel blasted his effort over the crossbar during the shootout. PSG converted enough spot-kicks to secure a 4-3 victory and retain the trophy.

Vitinha Named Man of the Match

PSG midfielder Vitinha was named Man of the Match after an influential display in the centre of the park.

The final was officiated by German referee Daniel Siebert in front of more than 61,000 spectators in Budapest.

    Historic Achievement For PSG

The triumph makes PSG the first French club to win back-to-back Champions League titles and further strengthens their status among Europe’s elite. They will now advance to the 2026 UEFA Super Cup and other major international competitions as continental champions.

For Arsenal, the defeat extends their wait for a first Champions League title and marks another painful final after their loss to Barcelona in 2006.

  • PSG Edge Bayern in Tense Clash, Set Up Final Date With Arsenal

Paris Saint-Germain have booked a place in the UEFA Champions League final after holding Bayern Munich to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night, sealing a 6-5 aggregate victory.

The result sends the French champions into a final clash against Arsenal on May 30.

    Early goal sets the tone

PSG struck early at the Allianz Arena, with Ousmane Dembele scoring in the third minute to hand the visitors a crucial advantage.

The quick opener forced Bayern into a chase, with the German side struggling to break through a compact Paris defence for most of the game.

    Penalty controversy sparks debate

A key moment came when Bayern were denied a penalty after the ball struck João Neves’ arm inside the box.

The decision stood after a VAR review, drawing visible frustration from the home side as they pushed for a breakthrough.

    Late response falls short

Harry Kane eventually found the net in the 90th minute to level the score on the night.

However, the late goal was not enough to overturn PSG’s aggregate lead, as the visitors held on to progress.

    Final showdown confirmed

PSG will now face Arsenal in the final, as they continue their pursuit of a first-ever Champions League title.

The French side heads into the decisive match with momentum, while Bayern exit the competition after a closely contested tie.

  • Osimhen to Wear Arm Splint on Return from Surgery, Targets Late April Comeback

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is set to return to action wearing a specialised forearm protective splint after successfully undergoing surgery for a fractured right arm, adding a second piece of protective armour to a career already defined by resilience in the face of serious injury.

Galatasaray confirmed on Monday, March 23, that the procedure was carried out by club physician Dr. Yener İnce at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital in Istanbul. The club described the operation as successful and expressed optimism about the Nigerian striker’s recovery.

    How the injury happened

Osimhen fractured his right forearm during an aerial collision with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté in the first half of Galatasaray’s 4-0 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg defeat at Anfield on March 18. Despite being in visible pain with his arm strapped up on the pitch, the 27-year-old showed remarkable determination to complete the first half before being replaced at the interval on medical advice.

Galatasaray’s official statement confirmed a fracture of the right forearm, with a cast applied immediately after hospital examination following the match.

    The protective splint

With his forearm unlikely to be fully healed by the time he returns to the pitch, Osimhen is expected to wear a forearm protective splint  a specialised device designed to immobilise the forearm and wrist, support the bone during the healing process, reduce pain, and prevent further damage by restricting unnecessary movement. The device typically features adjustable straps for compression and breathable padding for comfort. Galatasaray will need to work with medical staff to produce a custom design that ensures maximum safety without hindering his performance.

Osimhen is already familiar with wearing protective gear during matches, having donned a facial mask since a 2021 cheekbone fracture. The arm splint will become a second piece of protective armour on the pitch.

    Osimhen’s reaction

The striker has refused to let the injury dampen his outlook. Speaking on a social media livestream before his surgery, Osimhen drew comparisons to the 2021 head injury that gave him metal plates in his face. “I’m not new to this kind of thing; I have gone through much worse,” he said. “I have metal plates in my face as a result of a previous collision. Compared to that, this current fracture is a minor case.”

Osimhen also disclosed that Konaté reached out after the match to check on his well-being, a gesture he said helped clear any tension from the incident.

    Recovery timeline

Osimhen is targeting a return to action within six weeks — approximately four weeks for the bone to heal and a further two weeks to regain match fitness. If that timeline is met, Galatasaray could have their star forward back before the end of April, in time for crucial Süper Lig fixtures.

His absence will be felt at a critical stage of the season. Galatasaray are pushing for a domestic double, and the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26 is among the matches he could miss.

    His season so far

Despite battling hamstring and ankle problems earlier in the campaign, Osimhen has been directly involved in 26 goals this season, contributing 19 goals and seven assists across all competitions before the injury.  He had been one of the most clinical forwards in European football in the weeks leading up to the Liverpool clash.

    Super Eagles impact

Osimhen’s injury ruled him out of the Super Eagles’ March international window. He was absent from coach Eric Chelle’s squad for the friendly matches against Iran and Jordan in Antalya, Turkey, this week. The striker also missed out on a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after Nigeria were eliminated in a playoff by DR Congo, meaning the Galatasaray season represents his most significant stage this year, making a full recovery all the more important for both club and country.
