  • APC Waives Screening for Tinubu Ahead of Presidential Primary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has waived the screening requirement for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the party’s presidential primary.

The decision was announced on Wednesday after the National Working Committee (NWC) held its 188th meeting in Abuja.

    Tinubu ‘deemed duly screened’

In a statement by APC spokesperson Felix Morka, the party said the president is considered to have met all screening requirements.

The NWC stated that Tinubu is “duly screened in accordance with the Constitution of the Party” and can proceed to participate in the primary.

    Party cites constitutional powers

Morka explained that the decision was based on provisions of the APC constitution, which empower the NWC to organise primaries and grant waivers where necessary.

He said the committee acted within its mandate under Article 13.4 of the party’s rules.

    Endorsements influenced decision

According to the party, Tinubu has already secured strong backing from key stakeholders, including the Progressive Governors Forum and members of the National Assembly.

The NWC also referenced endorsements from previous party events, including the APC National Summit.

    Screening deemed unnecessary

The party added that Tinubu had already undergone screening ahead of the 2022 presidential primary, making another appearance before a screening panel unnecessary.

It described the requirement as redundant given his current position as president and leader of the party.

  • “After All I Spent…” — APC Aspirant Breaks Down as Consensus Deal Costs Him Ticket

An aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has broken down in tears after losing out in his party’s candidate selection process, sparking reactions online.

A viral video shows the moment he displayed his nomination form, visibly distressed over the outcome.

    Tears over lost ticket

In the footage, the aspirant lamented that despite purchasing the nomination form and participating in the process, the party eventually adopted a consensus arrangement.

He said the decision handed the ticket to another contender, leaving him sidelined at the final stage.

The emotional scene has since drawn attention, with many questioning the fairness of internal party processes.

    Claims of heavy investment

The aspirant suggested he had invested significantly in the race, making the outcome even more painful.

Voices heard in the background of the video indicated that the incident may have occurred in northern Nigeria, although full details remain unclear.

    Similar case resurfaces in Kwara

The development comes shortly after another aspirant, Abdulmajeed Abdulfatai Arikewuyo, made headlines over a similar experience in Kwara State.

Arikewuyo had claimed that despite completing his nomination process at the ward level, his name was never submitted at the state level.

He said he was later informed that his details were not on record, effectively disqualifying him from the race.

    Growing concerns over party processes

Both incidents have fueled conversations about transparency and accountability in candidate selection within political parties.

As reactions continue to trail the videos, calls are growing for clearer procedures to ensure fairness for aspirants.

  • Isaac Fayose Backs Peter Obi Amid Party Switch Debate, Defends Political Movement

Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose has publicly defended Peter Obi amid growing criticism over his movement across political parties, insisting that loyalty should be to individuals rather than platforms.

His comments come as debates intensify following Obi’s recent political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

    Fayose Defends Obi’s Party Movement

Reacting to the backlash, Fayose dismissed claims that Obi’s party switches should be a cause for concern.

He argued that political movement is not unusual in Nigeria’s landscape, pointing to President Bola Tinubu’s history of transitioning across multiple parties over the years.

“Some people are saying Peter Obi is moving from one party to another. Let me remind them that the current president moved from SDP to AD, then ACN, and now APC,” he said.

    ‘I Will Follow Him Anywhere’

Fayose went further to reaffirm his personal support for the former Anambra State governor, stressing that his loyalty is tied to Obi as an individual.

“If Peter Obi decides to move to NAFDAC or LASTMA, I will still follow him because we believe in him,” he added.

His remarks highlight a growing sentiment among some supporters who prioritise candidates over party structures.

    Questions Over APC’s Concerns

The businessman also questioned why the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which currently controls several states, would feel threatened by Obi’s movements.

“I thought APC has almost all the governors, so why are they still afraid?” he asked.

    Debate Reflects Wider Political Realignments

Fayose’s comments add to the ongoing conversation around shifting alliances and early positioning ahead of the 2027 elections.

With opposition figures exploring new platforms and coalitions, party loyalty and political strategy remain key talking points across Nigeria’s political space.

  • Man Storms APC Secretariat in Abuja, Demands Reward for 2023 Campaign Work

A Nigerian man on Thursday stormed the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, demanding what he described as compensation for his role in the party’s 2023 election campaigns.

    Protester carries emotional placard

The man, dressed in an APC-branded blue shirt, was seen holding a placard with the message: “Reward me or kill me,” as he expressed frustration over alleged abandonment by the party.

He claimed he had suffered severe personal and financial losses after actively working for the APC during the last general elections.

Claims of hardship and family struggles

In a viral video circulating on social media, the man said he sold his house while supporting the party’s campaign activities and now has no means of survival.

“I sold my house because of the debt I seemed to owe APC… because of the work I worked for APC,” he said.

He also alleged that he could no longer afford his children’s school fees, claiming he had left them at the party secretariat out of desperation.

“I dropped my children with the CSO and APC because I cannot take care of them again,” he added.

    Tension at APC headquarters

The video showed the man pacing the entrance of the secretariat while raising his placard and shouting, as security personnel stood by and onlookers recorded the incident.

He further alleged threats from a Chief Security Officer at the facility, though this claim was not independently verified.

    No official response from APC

As of the time the footage circulated online, no APC official had publicly addressed the protest or responded to the allegations raised by the man.

He said he intends to represent the Orsu, Orlu and Oru East Federal Constituency in Imo State under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The declaration was made in a video shared online, where he outlined his motivation for entering politics.

Chief Priest Declares Interest, Frames Ambition Around Service

In the video, the celebrity barman said his decision to run is driven by a desire to contribute to the development of his constituency. He insisted that his ambition is not financially motivated but focused on adding value.

“I am not coming to steal money, I want to add mine to the constituency,” he said.

Move Follows Alignment With Tinubu Support Structure

His political ambition comes weeks after he formally aligned with the City Boy Movement, a support group backing President Bola Tinubu. The development has intensified conversations about his growing involvement in political activities.

Earlier in February, he was appointed Imo State Director of the movement, a role that positions him within the structure mobilising support for the president’s re-election bid.

City Boy Movement Highlights Role in Tinubu Agenda

The group, in a statement announcing his appointment, described Cubana Chief Priest as a figure capable of strengthening grassroots mobilisation. It said his influence and reach would help advance the Renewed Hope agenda.

According to the statement, his role includes supporting party structures and driving engagement across the state.

Early Signals as 2027 Political Activity Builds

His declaration adds to the growing list of early political moves ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly among public figures expanding into politics. Observers note that such announcements reflect increasing activity within party structures as alignments begin to form.

With his entry into the race, attention is expected to shift to how established political actors in the constituency respond in the coming months.

  • APC Rift Deepens in Ogun as Daniel, Abiodun Clash Over Ogun East Senate Ticket

Moves to maintain unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State have come under pressure after Senator Gbenga Daniel and Governor Dapo Abiodun made parallel moves for the Ogun East senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 elections. The development has exposed fresh cracks within the party’s structure in the state.

Daniel, who currently represents Ogun East, picked up his expression of interest and nomination forms on Tuesday, signalling his intention to seek re-election.

Daniel Declares Re-Election Bid Despite Consensus Push

Confirming his move, the former governor said he remains committed to representing the district in the Senate. He described his decision as part of ongoing efforts to deliver effective and responsive representation under the APC platform.

“Today, I picked up my nomination and expression of interest forms as I seek to return to the Nigerian Senate,” he said.

Abiodun Emerges as Consensus Candidate in Ijebu-Ode

Hours earlier, Governor Dapo Abiodun had declared interest in the same seat after being adopted as the consensus candidate by APC stakeholders. The endorsement took place at a meeting held in Ijebu-Ode.

Abiodun welcomed the decision, describing it as a vote of confidence. He assured supporters that he would offer strong representation if elected.

    Controversy Trails Stakeholders’ Meeting

The consensus process has, however, been trailed by controversy following claims that Daniel was denied access to the meeting venue. In a video that circulated online, the senator expressed frustration over being blocked from entering the gathering.

“We have been here since 10am, but we have been barred. We are told that we can’t enter,” he said.

    Supporters Reject Consensus, Allege Exclusion

Supporters of Daniel under the BATOGD Movement have rejected the consensus arrangement, describing it as an attempt to sideline their candidate. The group argued that the process did not follow established party guidelines.

Spokesperson Olumuyiwa Okunowo said the move amounted to a deliberate exclusion, raising concerns over fairness within the party’s internal process.

    Pro-Abiodun Camp Defends Decision

Stakeholders backing Abiodun insist the endorsement reflects a collective agreement by party members across the district. They maintain that the decision was aimed at strengthening the APC’s chances in the next election cycle.

The meeting was said to include grassroots leaders, lawmakers, councillors, and representatives of youth and women groups.

Faleke, who also leads the Tinubu Support Groups, completed the transaction as party stakeholders witnessed the exercise in Abuja.

APC Opens Early Race Ahead of 2027 Elections

The move is seen as the formal start of internal mobilisation within the APC ahead of the 2027 presidential race. Party officials say the process will trigger wider consultations and alignments across political structures in the coming months.

The development places Tinubu at the centre of early preparations within the ruling party as political activities gradually gather pace nationwide.

Campaign Dates Set as Political Activities Build Up

According to INEC, presidential and National Assembly campaigns will begin on August 19, 2026. Campaigns for governorship and state assembly elections are scheduled to start on September 9, 2026.

The timelines are expected to guide early planning, even as political parties quietly intensify behind-the-scenes preparations ahead of the official campaign window.

Early Signals as 2027 Race Begins to Take Shape

With the purchase of nomination forms, the APC has effectively stepped into early campaign mode, months before official political activities are allowed to fully begin. The development is expected to trigger reactions from opposition camps as the election cycle gradually builds momentum.

Attention now shifts to how other parties will respond as Nigeria edges closer to another high-stakes election season.

  • APC Releases 2027 Election Timetable, Fixes Presidential Primary for May 23

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections, outlining key dates for primaries and internal processes.

The schedule was issued on Monday and signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu.

Dates Fixed for Primaries Across Positions

According to the timetable, the APC presidential primary will hold on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Other primaries are scheduled as follows: House of Representatives on May 15, Senate on May 18, State Houses of Assembly on May 20, and governorship on May 21.

    Fees Retained for Aspirants

The APC maintained its nomination fees, with the presidential form pegged at ₦100 million and governorship at ₦50 million.

Senate aspirants are to pay ₦20 million, House of Representatives ₦10 million, and State House of Assembly ₦6 million.

    Discount for Women, Youths, Others

Female aspirants, youths, and persons living with disabilities are required to pay only for the expression of interest form and 50 percent of the nomination fee for each position.

    Political Alignments Ahead of 2027

The release of the timetable comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with opposition figures already indicating plans to field a joint candidate against the ruling party.

  • APC Faces Fresh Tension as Aspirant Moves to Challenge Tinubu’s 2027 Ticket

Fresh signs of internal tension have surfaced in the All Progressives Congress (APC) after an Edo-born politician, Osifo Stanley, declared his intention to contest the party’s 2027 presidential ticket against President Bola Tinubu.

The move comes despite widespread endorsements positioning Tinubu as the party’s consensus candidate.

    Aspirant Rejects ‘Consensus’ Narrative

Speaking in Abuja, Stanley said he had already taken steps to formalise his ambition, including requesting the party’s account details to pay nomination fees.

He insisted that endorsements do not replace the constitutional process of primaries.

“I believe strongly that we all have the right to enjoy our constitutionally-guaranteed rights to run,” he said.

    ‘Endorsement Is Not a Ticket’

The aspirant argued that no provision in the APC constitution or Nigerian law allows endorsements to automatically produce a candidate.

“There is no such law in our party’s Constitution… endorsement is not a pathway to becoming the candidate,” he said.

He added that both party rules and electoral laws recognise the right of members to contest.

    Tinubu Backed by Party Structure

Stanley’s declaration comes weeks after the APC’s national convention in March, where governors, lawmakers and other stakeholders adopted Tinubu as sole candidate.

Several state chapters, including Lagos, Borno, Kebbi and Ekiti, had also endorsed the president, creating what appeared to be a unified front.

    Focus on Economy, Security

Outlining his vision, the aspirant said his campaign would prioritise economic recovery and national security.

“Our plan is to see how Nigeria can get out of lingering economic tension… the economy and security are the foundation,” he said.

The development signals early cracks within the ruling party as preparations for the 2027 election intensify across Nigeria’s political landscape.

  • APC Slams Makinde Over ‘Operation Wetie’ Remark at Opposition Summit

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde over comments made at an opposition summit, describing them as inciting and dangerous.

Makinde had referenced the “Operation Wetie” violence of the 1960s while warning against the emergence of a one-party state in Nigeria.

    Controversial Historical Reference

Speaking at the National Summit of Opposition Political Party Leaders, Makinde said, “They should remember that ‘Operation Wetie’ started from here. This is the same Wild Wild West.”

The phrase “Operation Wetie,” derived from a Yoruba expression meaning “soak him,” refers to a violent political era marked by arson and attacks following the disputed 1965 Western Region elections.

    APC Raises Alarm Over ‘Incitement’

In a statement issued on Sunday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka described the comment as troubling.

“It is deeply concerning that a sitting governor would invoke such a violent historical reference,” the party said, warning it could trigger “anarchy, murderous rage and widespread lawlessness.”

The APC added that Makinde’s remarks cast doubt on his suitability as a state’s chief security officer.

    Calls for Security Action

The ruling party urged security and intelligence agencies to take note of the statement, stressing that public office holders must be held accountable.

“Constitutional immunity from prosecution is not immunity from accountability for threats or acts against national security,” the statement added.

    Opposition Blamed for Internal Crisis

The APC also dismissed concerns about a one-party state, attributing challenges within opposition ranks to internal divisions.

It criticised figures such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, accusing them of weakening their parties rather than building viable alternatives.

    2027 Political Tensions Build

Reaffirming confidence ahead of the 2027 elections, the APC said Nigeria’s democratic space remains open.

The party pledged continued mobilisation in support of President Bola Tinubu’s agenda as political alignments intensify.
