Steven Anthony Ballmer on March 24, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan, United States of America. He is the son of Beatrice Dworkin and Frederic Henry Ballmer (Fritz Hans Ballmer). His father worked as a manager at Foord Motor Company. He has a sister named Shelly Ballmer. He has an American nationality and belongs to a mixed ethnicity of Swiss and Belarusian Jews.

For his education, he took college prep and engineering courses at Lawrence Technological University in 1973.
