Steve Ballmer is an American businessman and former CEO of Microsoft. He held the position from 2000 to 2014 and was succeeded by current CEO Satya Nadella. However, he remained on the company’s board until August 2014 and left to prepare to teach a new class. Moreover, he had purchased the Los Angeles Clippers from the NBA for $2 billion and he is now the owner of the team.

Steven Anthony Ballmer on March 24, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan, United States of America. He is the son of Beatrice Dworkin and Frederic Henry Ballmer (Fritz Hans Ballmer). His father worked as a manager at Foord Motor Company. He has a sister named Shelly Ballmer. He has an American nationality and belongs to a mixed ethnicity of Swiss and Belarusian Jews.
For his education, he took college prep and engineering courses at Lawrence Technological University in 1973. Additionally, he also graduated from Detroit Country Day School in Beverly Hills, Michigan. From school, he had scored 800 on the math section of the SAT becoming a National Merit Scholar. He earned his Magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Harvard University in 1977. In addition, he also lived in Brussels where he attended the International School of Brussels from 1964 to 1967 .

Before starting his lavish career at Microsoft, he previously worked as an assistant product manager at Procter & Gamble for two years. He had also tried writing screenplays in Hollywood. However, in 1980, he joined Microsoft and became the 30th employee hired by Gates as its first business manager. From 1998 to 2001, he was then promoted to President of Microsoft after gaining work experience in several Microsoft divisions.
On January 13, 2000, he was officially appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Microsoft. Since assuming this position, he has been responsible for the finances and day-to-day operations of the company. He announced his retirement in 2013 when the company lost billions in acquisition and the Surface tablet. He subsequently left his role with the company in August 2014.
In addition, he was also a director of Accenture Ltd from 2001 to 2006 as well as its general partner of Accenture SCA. After his retirement, he changed his interest in sports. Initially, he became an investor for another sports team, but it didn’t work out for him.
