Stephen Akinola, Another Popular Nigerian Pastor Dies
The General Superintendent of the Port Harcourt-based Redemption Ministries Worldwide, Rev. Stephen Akinola, is dead.
The popular Rivers state-based pastor reportedly passed away just hours after Prophet TB Joshua of the Lagos-based Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), died.
Akinola reportedly passed away in the early hours of Sunday, June 6, 2021.
According to reports, the pastor had undergone a kidney transplant a couple of months ago, although it has not been ascertained if the transplant was relatively the cause of his death.
The Punch reported that members of the Redemption Ministries thronged to the church which has its headquarters in Port Harcourt to mourn the famous cleric.
Apostle Eugene Ogu, a former chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) described Akinola’s death as sad.
He said: “Yes, it is a very sad day for the Christian community. While we were still talking of Prophet TB Joshua, Akinola’s death happened.
“It is so sad. I pray that God comforts the entire body of Christ because he (Akinola) labored so much for the body of Christ.”
It had been earlier reported that Prophet TB Joshua of the Lagos-based Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), passed away on Saturday, the 5th of June 2021.
The prophet reportedly died after a church program in Lagos.
“God has taken His servant Prophet TB Joshua home – as it should be by divine will. His last moments on earth were spent in the service of God. This is what he was born for, lived for, and died for.
“As Prophet TB Joshua says, “The greatest way to use life is to spend it on something that will outlive it,” the ministry shared on Facebook.
