  1. In his debut season with Genoa he only made a single appearance, which also came off the bench. However, he was called up to the matchday squad on several occasions.
  2. To further his development, Genoa decided to loan him to Padua at the start of the 2010/11 season. He became an important part of the team and managed to score 9 goals in 29 games.
  3. In his only season with Padua the team managed to reach the final of the promotion playoffs but were defeated by Novara . He was declared Serie B Player of the Year for his magnificent performances throughout the season .
  4. AC Milan scouts and club management took note of his precocious talent and decided to pay a €20m transfer fee (€10m plus Alexander Merkel) to buy Genoa in June 2011 El Shaarawy.
  5. In September 2011, he scored his first goal for AC Milan in a Serie A match against Udinese that ended in a 1–1 draw. He was sent into the match for the injured Alexander Pato.
