Biography
Stana Katic was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on April 20, 1978. While clarifying her ethnicity, “My parents are Serbs from Croatia. I call us Dalmatian because that’s the part of the planet that we are originally from. I have Serb, Croat and even a handful of Montenegrin family members.” Her father hails from Vrlika, Croatia, and her mother hails from the surrounding area of Sinj, Croatia. She has five siblings, four brothers and a sister.
At a young age, Stana Katic moved with her family to Aurora, Illinois and spent the next few years shuffling between Canada and America. Following her graduation from West Aurora High School in 1996, she enrolled at the University of Toronto’s Trinity College to study International Relations, Economics, and pre-law. Thereafter, she studied toward an MFA in acting from 2000 to 2002 at The Theatre School at DePaul University. Also, she studied acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse acting school.

Early Career
Stana Katic played Hana Gitelman in Heroes, Collette Stenger in season five of 24, and played Jenny in Feast of Love starring Morgan Freeman. Also, she played Morgenstern in The Spirit, Corrine Veneau in Quantum of Solace, and, Simone Renoir in the third instalment of The Librarian franchise; The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice. In August 2008, ABC announced the acquisition of the Castle series. In the same year, she established her own production company, Sine Timore Productions, which means “without fear” in Latin.
In the summer of 2010, Stana Katic filmed For Lovers Only with the Polish brothers in France and also, The Double, with Richard Gere. She won the actress category at the third annual Shorty Awards, presented on March 28, 2011. She received the Monte-Carlo Television Festival’s online vote for Most Glamorous Actress in May 2011. With 15 finalists, she received 17.3% of the 3,641 votes cast. At the May-5 June 2011 Film Festival ZlÃn, Stana Katic served as a jury member where For Lovers Only made its world premiere. And at the 40th People’s Choice Awards, she won in the Favourite Dramatic TV Actress category. In the 2013 film, CBGB, Stana Katic played Genya Ravan, a rock singer and producer. And in 2016, ABC announced that Stana Katic would be taking an exit from Castle before the likely ninth season’s project. Hence, her contract was not renewed following the eighth season. On the 12th of May 2016, Castle was cancelled after running for eight seasons.
In Sister Cities premiered on the 17th of September 2016, Stana Katic played Carolina Baxter. And on the 26th of the same month, she appeared in White Rabbit Red Rabbit at New York’s Westside Theatre. In the same year, she starred as Rachel Rozman in The Rendezvous, and was cast in the horror film, Cadaver. Come January of the following year, she appeared as Anna in Lost in Florence. Still, in 2017, she was cast as Emily Byrne in the Absentia series.

Stana Katic is renowned for her fluency in a number of languages, including English, Serbian, French, Italian, and Slovenian.

This project encourages people to Go Car Free for just one day and seek out alternate forms of public transit. Stana Katic composed the lyrics of “Hey Blue Eyes” which she performed for audience members at the 51st Zlin Film Festival in 2011. She is a citizen of both the United States and Canada.
