NIA arrested 83-year-old activist
Father Stan Swamy (activist) was released from prison until 23 October by a special court in Mumbai. As stated by the sources, the 83-year-old Jesuit priest was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on October 9, 2020, in connection with the 2018 savagery in the Maharashtra Koregaon Bhima case.
NIA officials said investigations established that Stan Swamy was indeed associated with the exercises of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) and was “genuinely associated with their exercises.” The organization also blamed him for obtaining assets for CPI-Maoist.
According to the sources, the NIA also targeted him at his home for 20 minutes before capturing him. The NIA organization said files and publicity material from the CPI (Maoist) and writings of Stan Swamy were seized.
Not only this, but they also said that Stan is also in contact with other people who are involved in the Bhima Koregaon case. According to media sources, Swamy had posted a video within a week of his arrest in which he claimed he was feeling the squeeze and that the NIA had been targeting him for 15 hours.
