Stan Dragotti
Almost always associated with the comic genre, he achieved his greatest international success with “Love at first bite.” The director Stan Dragoti died on July 13, 2018 in Los Angeles, as a result of pneumonia at the age of 85, according to Yolanda, his wife.
Born on October 4, 1932 in Manhattan, Stan Dragoti came from a family of Albanian immigrants. Graduated from Visuals Arts College, he started out as a commercial maker in the city of skyscrapers. After working on the “I Love New York” campaign with Charlie Moss, he co-wrote a script with him that would end up being the western Dirty Little Billy, which was his debut as a director.
His greatest success came with the vampire parody Love at First Bite , with the ever-tanned George Hamilton playing a pale bloodsucker, evicted from his castle by the communist government of Romania. During a trip to the Cannes Film Festival to promote the film, Stan Dragoti was arrested by the police for possession of cocaine, spending eight weeks in prison.
He was also responsible for The Crazy Adventures of a Mr. Mom , with Michael Keaton , and The Man with a Red Shoe , with Tom Hanks . He retired in 1991, following the bland College Hero .
