South Africa Experience Snowfall in Over 10 years

South Africa experience snowfall after a decade with its capital Johannesburg (Norwood), Cape Town, and Gauteng being rare occurrences among the areas that are currently experiencing heavy downpours.

Additionally, it’s fascinating to see Ceres covered in a beautiful layer of snow. This has made the town a popular tourist destination, especially Matroosberg Nature Reserve, where visitors can experience snow if the temperatures drop low enough. If you plan to go there, park at the campsite and walk about 500 meters to reach the snowy areas.

The cooling trend is expected to continue across the western, central, and eastern regions on Monday, with maximum temperatures remaining below 10°C in many interior areas, creating a chilly atmosphere. The snowfall initially started in the higher elevated areas of the Western and Northern Cape but is gradually moving towards the high-lying areas of the Eastern Cape.

Furthermore, according to records the last time that South Africa experience a snowfall was in August 2012, while other times in history were June 2007, September 1981, June 1964, August 1962, and May 1956. Many Mzansi people have taken to social media to their excitement and bewonder that struck their eyes with the snowfall.
