Sophie Marceau is a French actress, director, author and screenwriter. With the intention of earning some money as a model on the side, she decided at the age of 14 to respond to an ad asking teenage girls to take photos with a casting agency. It was 1980 and Sophie was a fourth year student at Curie College at the time. A few months later, she was noticed and chosen by director Claude Pinoteau’s casting director, who wanted to hire a new face for the film La Boum (1980).
