Peter Obi, the Labour Party member and presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has received a bold recommendation to choose Natasha Akpoti as his running mate if he runs again in 2027. The suggestion, shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter), urges Obi to consider this move to ignite positive change in Nigeria.

The post read: “@PeterObi, if you choose to run in 2027, you’re still the best among the miserable alternatives we have. To truly shake the nation, make Senator @NatashaAkpoti your running mate. Nigeria needs youthful, dynamic leadership to take us to the global stage.”

The suggestion quickly went viral, sparking reactions from online users.

Some responses included:

@Ayoksy: “Only those with sense know that the best ticket to challenge APC is Atiku/PO. But some ‘Obidients’ won’t see this.”

@V_O_AKwaIbom: “Make Natasha Akpoti your running mate and lose my vote.”

@cableanalyst: “I’m showing up at the polls at 5 am on election day, even if I’m outside Nigeria, I’ll come back to vote.”

@MURPHYDREAD: “This online buzz won’t win you the election. Do you know how many people in Kano don’t even know her?”

@683Ez: “I see the vision but Obi lacks the ruthlessness to wrest power from the current leaders. Akpoti might have the political savvy needed, but the effort to unseat them will be unprecedented.”

@diepole: “Convincing northerners to vote for Obi is already hard enough. Now you want to complicate things by picking a lady from North Central as his running mate? What a joke.”

@Faruqish: “It’s ironic how those who condemned a Muslim-Muslim ticket now support a Christian-Christian option.”
