Slim Pickens was born Louis Burton Lindley Jr on June 29, 1919 , in Kingsburg, California, United States. He was born to Louis Bert Lindley Sr. (father) and Sally Mosher (mother). He grew up with his brother, Samuel T. Lindley who is famous as Easy Pickens .
Regarding his education, he graduated from Hanford High School in Hanford, California.

Slim Pickens began his first horseback riding at the age of four and later became an extraordinary horseman. Although his father did not like horseback riding, he developed his interest in horsemanship. He changed his name from Louis Burton Lindley Jr. to Slim Pickens just so his father wouldn’t find out about his involvement.
Once he said that,
My father was against the rodeo and told me that he never wanted to see my name on the entry lists again. While he was worrying me about what to call myself, an old man sitting in a cart said, ‘Why don’t you call yourself Slim Pickens?
Career
Slim Pickens was always remembered as a skilled horseman and bull rider. After a long rodeo career, he turned to acting in 1946. He made his first appearance in the film Smoky, which became a huge hit.
In 1950, he was noticed by American actor and director, William Keighley in a rodeo which helped him play the role of Plank in Rocky Mountain .
Later, he appeared in several movies including The Last Musketeer, Trail of Iron Mountain, One-Eyed Jacks, Beyond the Poseidon Adventure .
He has also contributed his voice to a few movies including Fleece Seekers, Silver Dollar City , and The Black Hole .

Death
Former American rodeo performer, as well as actor, Slim Pickens dies at the age of 37 on December 8, 1983 , in Modesto, California, USA . He was survived by a member of his family, which includes his wife and his three children.
He suffered from the brain tumor in his senior year and also underwent surgery in San Francisco. Later he suffered pneumonia that took his life.
