Himmelbraun is a Japanese skateboarder, surfer, TV personality and social media star, best known for being the world’s youngest professional skateboarder. At age 8, Sky became the youngest skateboarder to compete in the 2016 Vans US Open Pro Series. In July 2017 he competed in the inaugural Asian Vans Park Series Continental Championship in Singapore and placed 2nd. Just in time for the 20th anniversary, Sky joined the “Starting Lineup” of the skateboard brand Teck Deck in 2018. Having dual citizenship, she was able to choose Japan or Great Britain at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after adding skateboarding as an official event for the first time and choosing Great Britain.

Her first qualifying competition for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics was the 2019 Dew Tour in Long Beach, California, where she even distinguished herself with a broken arm. Sky also aimed to participate in X Games, a well-known extreme sports competition hosted and broadcast on ABC and ESPN channels. She is also a successful surfer and was undefeated in the under 16 age group. Sky also launched a career in television, winning the first-ever competition in 2018’s Dancing With The Stars: Juniors TV show. She also appeared in an episode of Little Big Shots TV series in 2017 and had a role of Jade in an episode of the comedy TV series Maniin 2019. Sky has also built a large online following, with more than 500,000 followers on Instagram and more than 200,000 followers on Facebook.

Sky Brown made her first appearance as herself in an episode titled Bend It Like Bella of the family reality TV series Little Big Shots in April 2017.

Personal trainer

Sky doesn’t have a personal trainer, but works tirelessly on her own or with her female skateboarding idols, Alana Smith and Leticia Bufoni, while in the US. She also claims to wake up at 5am every morning before school to go surfing.

As well as competing in surfing, Sky is also a passionate brawler and began practicing boxing and karate in hopes of one day turning pro.

  1. She comes from a family of skateboarders and started skateboarding when she was 3 years old. Her father was very reluctant at first but relented after seeing her passion and talent.
  2. Although she initially opted for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she switched to the British team. Sky said the reason was that The British Skateboarding Association told her, “No pressure, just have fun and get out there.”
  3. If she qualified, Sky would be the second youngest British competitor, just after Cecilia Colledge, who competed in figure skating at the 1932 Winter Olympics aged 11 years and 4 months.
  4. Her younger brother Ocean Brown is also very successful in surfing and skateboarding and trains with her.
  5. She manages to juggle skateboarding and school, and does her homework on the go.
  6. She wants to meet girls from South Africa and Afghanistan to show them a different way of life and to motivate them to try a sport dominated by men.
  7. Sky rode a motorcycle in a promotional video shot in Cambodia for the surf, skate and snowboard brand Roxy .
  8. Sky listens to Nicki Minaj and Sia’s songs during her skating practice as they pump her up.
