Six corps members to repeat service year in Gombe

For evading their duty station, four 2021 Batch C Stream II National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Gombe State have been asked to repeat the service.

This was stated by Mrs. Ada Imoni, the state’s NYSC coordinator, during the batch’s passing-out parade on Thursday in Gombe.

Imoni reported that six additional corps members had their service years extended due to a variety of infractions.

However, he claimed that 1,085 corps members had graduated after successfully completing their year of service in the state. She emphasized that the plan was still disciplined and would not put up with any acts of disobedience, which is why various punitive measures had been implemented.

Imoni gave advice to the departing corps members, urging them to stick with the task of preserving the country’s unity and nationhood in accordance with the scheme’s mandate. She urged the departing corps members to make better use of the skills they had learned during their year of service.

In other news, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State announced the expulsion of Ladi Adebutu, a former governorship candidate, and four other members, deepening the crisis that has gripped the party.

According to the party, the expulsion was due to alleged involvement in the manipulation of the delegates’ list used to conduct the party’s primary election for governor on May 25, 2022, as well as flagrant disobedience to a court order.

Adebutu, who has been on suspension since October 25, was finally expelled along with four others – Taiwo Akinlabi, Sunday Solarin, Kayode Adebayo, and Akinloye Bankole, after the relevant Working Committee of the party, reviewed the report of a five-man disciplinary panel set up to look into the allegations of anti-party, indiscipline, division, and acts capable of bringing the party into disrepute.

The chairman of the disciplinary committee, Hon. Akintunde Mufutau said in a statement: “After a thorough review of the allegation leveled against them, the panel found Adebutu and others guilty. Subsequently, they have been recommended for expulsion and same has been communicated to the necessary organs of the party for ratification”.
