Most recently, as of August 8, 2020, he was in the spotlight when the star suffered an accident while testing his new electric bike and broke his back on Saturday in Malibu, California.
He was rushed to the hospital and there he underwent a five-hour surgery with many injuries and painful procedures, including the insertion of a metal rod in his back after his hospitalization.

Early life
Simon was born in Lambeth, London, and raised in Elstree, Hertfordshire by his mother (Julie Brett) and father (Eric Selig Philip Cowell).
His mother was a ballet dancer and socialite and was from a Christian background. while her father was a real estate agent, real estate developer and executive in the music industry and belongs to a Jewish family.

Simon began his career in the early 1980s, forming the E&S Music company with his former boss at EMI, but quit in 1983. He was later involved in the formation of Fanfare Records with Iain Burton.
In the year 1986, he released his first hit song with “So Macho” by the singer Sinitta. Cowell then found a job with a BMG music company as an A&R consultant and established S Records under the BMG company banner.

In the year 2013, Simon and Lauren Silverman started dating. In July 2013, his ex-husband, Andrew Silverman, filed for divorce, citing his wife Lauren’s betrayal and naming Simon as co-respondent.
