Shirley Douglas died at the age of 86, on April 5, 2020, as a result of pneumonia, according to her son, the famous Kiefer Sutherland, on his Twitter account. “Early this morning my mother, Shirley Douglas, passed away due to complications of pneumonia (not related to Covid-19). Born in 1934, in Saskatchewan, Western Canada, Shirley Douglas graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She then made her debut on the British stage and series.
Her first notable role was Mrs. Starch, the piano teacher in Stanley Kubrick ‘s Lolita . She also appeared in titles such as David Cronenberg ‘s Inseparables .
He worked as an activist in campaigns against the Vietnam War, and later in favor of the rights of immigrants and women. She established a fundraising organization called “Friends of the Black Panthers” and in 1969 she was arrested in Los Angeles for “conspiracy to be in possession of explosives” after trying to buy grenades. As a consequence, she spent five years in prison. She divorced from Timothy Emil Sicks, with whom she had a son, Shirley Douglas she joined the famous Donald Sutherland , with whom she gave birth to twins Rachel and the famous Kiefer Sutherland .
