  1. He is co-founder of the record label D-Block Records . Fellow rappers Styles P and Jadakiss are his partners in the music production company, with the former serving as the organization’s CEO.
  2. He first met Styles P, his future group member, while they were studying in junior high. However, they did not start out in music and did not form a group while studying in high school.
  3. He and his Der LOX members were discovered by Mary J Blige in their late teens. Her street-hard lyrics made a huge impression on her, and she decided to give Sean Diddy Combs her demo tape.
  4. After signing to his record company, Bad Boy Records Combs saw them work with a variety of music heavyweights including Mariah Carey, Notorious BIG and Mary J. Blige.
  5. In the early days of his music group Der LOX was known as Die Bombentruppe and they performed at local events to get some much-needed attention. They sold their homemade cassettes on the street.
  6. In the summer of 1999, his rap group ran afoul of Combs’ record label as they felt their career was not going in the right direction under the label’s guidance.
  7. They tried a variety of legal avenues to secure their release from the record deal, but when that didn’t work, they took to the streets and began the Free the Lox campaign.
  8. During their performances in New York City, they wore “Let the LOX Go” t-shirts. Eventually, due to mounting pressure, Bad Boy Records agreed to cancel the deal.
  9. As a co-founder of the record label, Sheek, an aspiring entrepreneur, also opened D-Block and D-Block car washes.
  10. During his childhood, he was quite fond of ice cream and a regular at Skate Key rink in the Bronx.
