1. When he was very young, he played the saxophone. However, his parents and grandfather managed to persuade him to take up the clarinet.
2. At the age of 10 he began classical clarinet training.
3. While studying at the conservatory, he performed Western classical music at prestigious venues such as Jordan Hall and Boston’s Symphony Hall.
4. After graduating from the Conservatory, he received a grant from the Frank Huntington Beebe Fund to learn how to add a clarinet to Indian classical music.
