Shaggy Facts

1. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a fireman. However, after seeing King Yellowman perform, he felt drawn to the music.
2. In his free time he likes to engage in art. He is quite good at painting, sketching and drawing.
3. Shaggy began taking singing lessons in 1987 and was discovered the following year while performing on the street with a group of his friends.
4. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He served with the Field Artillery Battery in the 10th Marine Regiment in the Gulf War.
5. With the US Marine Corps, he managed to rise to the rank of Lance Corporal. However, he was demoted twice during his stint in the Army.
6. While serving in the Marine Corps, he was given the opportunity to improve his singing voice.
7. In March 2007 he was engaged to perform the official anthem of the ICC Cricket World Cup, The Game of Love and Unity , at the tournament’s opening ceremony.
