Seth McFarlane
An all-rounder and multifaceted man, Seth MacFarlane has done everything from creating series and films, playing in a jazz band or hosting the Oscars. His triumphs have come to him thanks to his exceptional voice that has allowed him to give life to such iconic characters from animation as Stewie or Peter Griffin.
Born on October 26, 1973 in Kent, Connecticut into a family of teachers with British and Canadian roots, from childhood, MacFarlane showed great interest in illustration. He started drawing animated characters, like Fred Flintstone or Woody Bird. At the age of nine he had already drawn comic strips for his town newspaper. He developed his studies at the Kent Episcopalian School and later studied animation at the Rhode Island School of Design where he graduated in Fine Arts. During his childhood and adolescence he wanted to work for Disney but, upon graduation, he changed his mind and ended up working for Hanna-Barbera studios, where he worked as a cartoonist and writer for Cartoon Network.
His real success came with Family Guy , of which he is the creator and dubber of some of the characters, and which was initially canceled by the broadcaster, FOX. Given the growing demand for the series that could only be seen on Cartoon Networks or on DVD, it was reissued and made MacFarlane the highest paid screenwriter. Thanks to this series he got two Emmy awards and an Annie. In 2001 he eluded death due to a mistake by his tour company that prevented him from boarding one of the planes that crashed into the Twin Towers.
This fact did not take away his comic side and he continued with the creation of Father Made in the USA and The Cleveland Show . In 2014 he premiered the Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey series , based on Carl Sagan’s scientific explorations. He had great television success on both networks that aired, FOX and National Geographic.
He debuted as a film director in 2012 with Ted , starring Mark Wahlberg and where Seth himself lent his voice to the adorable teddy bear. The film, co-written and produced by him, grossed more than $545 million, making it the highest-grossing comedy of all time. After the success of his first film MacFarlane, he directed A Thousand Ways to Bite the Dust , a film full of cameos from big stars and where he himself played the leading role alongside Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfred. However, it did not garner good reviews.
Declared a fervent admirer of Star Wars , Star Trek and science fiction, this has led him to appear in many programs and series, in the form of cameos such as Ensign Rivers in Star Trek: Enterprise or his appearance in Hellboy 2 : the golden army .
