1. Vettel came to amateur sport at the age of three and a half. At the age of 8 he took part in karting series.
2. As his talent became apparent, he was accepted into the club’s Red Bull junior team at the age of 11. He managed to win numerous titles including Junior Monaco Kart Cup in 2001 with the Red Bull team.
3. When his achievements became too great for the junior team, he was promoted to open wheel rider in 2003.
4. In 2004 he won the German Formula BMW Championship after winning 18 of 20 races. Because of this, he was given the opportunity to drive a Reynard Motorsport Champ Car from Derrick Walker, a former British racing team owner.
5. In 2006, 18-year-old Vettel was promoted as a test driver for Sauber Formula One .
6. Before the 2006 Turkish Grand Prix , BMW Sauber appointed him third driver. On his testing debut, he became the youngest Formula One driver to compete in a Grand Prix weekend.
7. At the 2007 Japanese Grand Prix , he collided with Mark Webber’s car and took them both out of the race. At the time, Webber was leading the race and Vettel was third behind Lewis Hamilton. After the race he was handed a 10 place penalty for the following race. However, the penalty was overturned after YouTube video revealed Hamilton’s behavior behind the safety car was the root cause of the accident.
8. At the end of the 2008 season, his great performances were recognized as “Rookie of the Year” at the Autosport Awards .
9. At the end of the 2012 season he won his 3rd consecutive world championship. He was also the first racer to win the triple championship at the age of 25.
