Sean Paul Facts

1. When he was 14, his mother enrolled him in piano lessons. However, he only attended classes for a year.
2. From the ages of 13 to 21 he was a member of the national water polo team. He eventually decided to quit the sport to focus on his music career.
3. Jeremy Harding, Paul’s first manager and record producer, found out about Paul through his brother, who had heard Paul perform at an open mic event in Kingston. He told Harding that Paul sounded like dancehall DJ Super Cat.
4. Paul eventually met Harding at his studio while seeking his advice. Harding got him to do a chant over his rhythm track, leading to the creation of single, Little One.
5. He performed with Shaggy and other artists in a benefit concert to raise funds for the Bustamante Hospital for Children. Proceeds from the event were used to purchase new equipment for the hospital.
6. Before making his name as a music artist, he worked as a bank teller and a chef at a local restaurant.
7. In March 2007 he was hired to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
8. He was scheduled to perform with Beyoncé at the 2004 Grammy Awards, but her performance was canceled. It was rumored that Jay-Z used his influence to thwart her act.
