Scott Harris is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist best known for writing songs for several Shawn Mendes albums, one of which was Enlighten , released September 23, 2016. He wrote 10 songs for it, including its lead single, Treat Yourself Better , which peaked at #3 on US Mainstream Top 40 chart. He was also behind the hit Nothing Holds Me Back which reached number 1 on the same chart. Scott has also worked on 2 other Shawn Mendes albums – Handwritten (2015), his debut album which reached #1 on Billboard 200chart, as well as 13 songs on his 3rd self-titled Shawn Mendes (2018) album , which also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

- He started playing the piano when he was 4 years old.
- Scott picked up a guitar and began practicing when he was about 14 years old. At first he only knew three chords and started writing pop-style songs without lyrics.
- He studied the Place for Places album by John Mayer when he was a beginner, which gave him the courage and skill to write his own songs.
- His first cut by a record label was a song he wrote with The Beats and Stephen Jerzak, named Miles and Miles for Stephen’s debut single on Universal Records in 2011 .
- After writing the 1st song for Shawn Mendes called Life of the Party that went number 1 on iTunes overnight they just clicked and wrote songs together and became such good friends.
- Scott said that he has great chemistry with Shawn and that he is the most sincere and sincere human being, but also very talented. He was still learning guitar when they met and after 3 months Shawn got really good at it.
- Scott and Shawn misspelled a song The Weight from the Handwritten (2015) album entirely over a Skype call session.
- His father died on June 23, 2016 as a result of an illness. Scott said it inspired him to even think about writing a song since his father had been writing jazz music his entire life.
- After his father’s death, he tattooed a hand glider that flew through the air on his biceps, inspired by the song his father was playing.

- One of his greatest achievements was winning the 2016 Grammy Award for The Chainsmokers hit song Don’t Let Me Down. He co-wrote it with the band’s Emily Warren and AndrewTaggart. Scott said he loves texting with Emily as they are great friends and spend a lot of time together. The song had a beginning in Andrew’s idea of a melody. He played the beginning of it in his apartment, whereupon the trio developed a hit from it, which became it.
