SCHOOLS IN NIGERIA

The Nigerian Tertiary Institutions are mainly sub-divided into Colleges of Education, Monotechnics, Polytechnics, and Universities. These institutions are either private, state or federal owned and they all offer diverse degrees.

By the statute of their establishment, Colleges of Education are institutions where teachers are trained professionally; Monotechnics are institutions where a single specific technical subject is taught; Polytechnics are educational institutes that teache applied arts and sciences rather than academic subjects; and Universities are institutions of higher education and research, which awards academic degrees in various academic disciplines.

While the National Universities Commission (NUC)  is the major accreditation and regulatory body tasked by the Federal Government of Nigeria to enforce uniform standards and sets the admissions capacity of every university in Nigeria, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE)  is responsible for the Polytechnics, and Monotechnics. Likewise, the National Commission for College of Education (NCCE) is the body responsible for the Colleges of Education.

We have taken it upon ourselves to research and gather all the tertiary institutions in Nigeria that have been approved by their respective bodies. We are also committed to updating this list as changes are being made to the Nigerian Educational system. Follow the respective links below to view the approved institutes in Nigeria.
