SANTI RODRÍGUEZ: HIS AGE, HIS PARTNER, HIS HEART ATTACK AND HIS LINK WITH OPUS DEI

Published

on

Born in Malaga in 1965, his family moved to Jaen when he was just a month old. Although we all know him from his roles in series and from monologues on television and theater, the truth is that he initially began to study Law in Granada, but hardly attended classes.

After years working without being known, Santi managed to get his head into the world of television thanks to ‘Genius and figure’, a humor space from which Paz Padilla and Chiquito de la Calzada, among others, emerged. He had to wait a few more years.

Pablo Motos , script coordinator for ‘El club de la comedia’, and the rest of his team took notice of the Andalusian, which is why he became one of the program’s fixtures. His particular humor earned him the affection of the public along with other names such as Eva Hache , Luis Piedrahita or El Monaguillo.

Globomedia, producer of the monologue space, noticed him to give life to a curious character for the series ‘7 vidas’. ‘El frutero’ went from being an occasional character to being one of the best known along with Gonzalo de Castro, Florentino Fernández , Blanca Portillo or Eva Santolaria , among others.

Later, collaborations would arrive on programs such as ‘La noche de Fuentes y cía’, ‘Los irrepetibles’, ‘Tu cara me suena’ or ‘Me resbala’, among others.

In addition to his success on television, Santi Rodríguez can boast of counting each of his shows and monologues in theater as a success. ‘5hombres.com’, ‘Ave Sosía’, ‘Cómicos Uno a Uno’, ‘Como en la casa de uno…(anywhere)’ and ‘Infarto, don’t go to light!’ are just some of the best known.

THE PROBLEMS THAT OPUS DEI CAUSED HIM

In his most successful time, he denounced the threats he received on Twitter, although they had nothing to do with his role in the Telecinco series. To everyone’s surprise, it was his link with Opus Dei that brought him problems.

«In Opus Dei they instilled in me beliefs that have been of great help in difficult times. That is why I defend it to the death”, he commented in an interview for the magazine Alba Digital.

HIS UNKNOWN WOMAN

Santi Rodríguez suffered a heart attack in 2017 on the same day as his birthday, from which luckily he has fully recovered. From that moment, his life has changed and he has focused on the world of solidarity, trying to do his bit to help others.

Vicky, his wife, was his best support in those hard moments. In addition, the couple has had two daughters from their marriage.
