He completed his studies at the Australian Film Television and Radio School. After getting educated, Sammy began her career as a breakfast radio host. In an interview, she accepted that she worked as a presenter for almost 28 years. In 1984 she began her professional career at the MIX 106.5 FM radio station.
Power operated there for almost 28 years. In 2012 she returned to Queensland to help her mother. Power explained that when she left the radio station she weighed almost 122 kg and she was bored and tired of her work.
