Samantha Jane Morton was born on May 13, 1977, in the Nottingham neighborhood of Clifton, the third child of Pamela, a factory worker, and Peter Morton. She has Polish and Irish ancestry. Samantha has six half-siblings from her parents’ subsequent relationships after their divorce in 1979.
She was raised by her father until the age of eight, at which point she and her siblings were placed under the care of the court because neither of her parents could take care of them.
