Broadcasting on NBC between 1989 and 1993, the series “Saved by the Bell” was a huge success. Its creator, Sam Bobrick, died in a Los Angeles hospital on October 11, 2019, as a result of a stroke, at the age of 87.

Born on July 24, 1932, in Chicago, he began his journey as a television scriptwriter after graduating in science and serving in the air force for more than three years. He wrote chapters of popular series of the time, such as The Flintstones and Super Agent 86. But Sam Bobrick triumphed above all in the theater, since he premiered around forty pieces. Some of them were successful on Broadway such as “Norman, Is That You?” or “Hamlet II (Better Than The Original)”. He also wrote two monologues for the famous comedian Lenny Bruce .

Little was lavished on film, although Sam Bobrick was the author of the plot of My Handsome Legionnaire , a crazy comedy, starring and directed by Marty Feldman . On April 20, 1991, the first chapter of Saved by the Bell was broadcast , a spin-off of the series of teachers  Good morning, Miss Bliss , focused on the adventures of six young students in a high school. At the time of his death, he was working on a reboot of this production, for which he was going to have the original protagonists.
