From the looks of her she seems as eternally optimistic as Poppy, the character who has made her famous, from the movie Happy. A story about happiness. She would say that she has a lot to do with Poppy in real life, although she is a versatile enough actress to pull off “whatever is thrown at her.”
Born on April 27, 1976 in the British capital, Sally Hawkins is the daughter of Colin and Jacqui Hawkins, who had great prestige as children’s book authors. Since her childhood she was fond of cinema, especially the black and white films of the 40s. She studied at the James Allen School for Girls, and graduated in Dramatic Art from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Forged in the theater, at the beginning of the 21st century Sally Hawkins appeared in productions of classic works, such as “Much Ado About Nothing” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, by William Shakespeare , and “The House of Bernarda Alba” , by the Spanish Federico García Lorca .

Little by little, Sally Hawkins was consecrating itself as a high school. She was the girlfriend of a hitman in Layer Cake , and Woody Allen recruited her to play the fiancée of Colin Farrell , in debt due to gambling, in Cassandra’s Dream .
But the role that would mark a turning point in his career would be given to him again by Mike Leigh. In Happy. A tale of happiness , he nailed the role of Poppy, a feisty teacher who enrolls in driving lessons after her bike is stolen. She deservedly won the Silver Bear in Berlin for best actress.

Little is known of the private life of Sally Hawkins, a rather discreet woman. Actor James Corden , who was her co-star in All or Nothing , has stated that he has made a pact with her. “If we both make it to 35 and we haven’t found the right partner, we’ll get married and have lots of kids,” Corden explained.
