Biography
Sadio Mane was born on the 10th of April 19992 in Bambali, Sédhiou, Senegal. He began to pursue a career in football as a child despite his father forbidding him from doing so. He later escaped his home village and went to Dakar, Senegal’s Capital at age 15 to pursue his ambition of becoming a footballer.
Mane was spotted by football scouts in 2009 when playing in one of the cities of Dakar. The scouts referred him to Génération Foot, a Senegalese football club. He helped the team to the second division in the 2010–11 season.
In 2011, Mané joined Metz, through a partnership deal with Génération Foot. Despite making 19 appearances in his first league season, he could only score a single goal. He however attracted attention from several clubs including the Red Bull Salzburg, who bought him for €4 million in 2012.
After a few stints at Salsburg, Mané was transferred to Premier League side Southampton for £11.8 million. He joined Liverpool in 2016 for a transfer fee of £34 million on a five-year contract. The transfer fee made him the most expensive African player in history at the time.
In 2022 He was transferred to Bayern Munich on a 3-year contract. The fee was reported to be £27.4m potentially rising to £35m based on appearances plus individual and team achievements
