Ryan Giggs received his formal education from Moorside Grammar School in Swinton, near Manchester. At the age of 6 he began his football education with local Salford team Deans FC where Manchester City scout Dennis Schofield was the manager. Schofield recommended Giggs to his club and they signed him to their school of excellence .
At the same time he continued to play for Deans, and while he was playing for the Salford club he was regularly watched by Harold Wood, Manchester United’s steward. He spoke personally to Alex Ferguson, who immediately dispatched a scout to watch him. After observing him, Manchester United offered him an opportunity to join them as a schoolmate. The 14-year-old then joined them and continued his football education at United Academy.
