Russell Hantz was born on October 10 , 1972 in Dayton, Texas, United States. He is an American television personality and owner of an oil company. He is best known for his appearance on Survivor, an American reality show.
Russell grew up in Texas with his three siblings named Melanie Hantz, William Hantz, and Shawn Hantz.

Russell first applied to compete on a CBS reality show ‘Pirate Master’ but the show didn’t call him. After two years, he was called for the casting of ‘Survivor: Samoa’. On the show, he was assigned to the Foa Foa tribe.
As a last minute substitute, Russell was invited to Survivor’s 20th season at Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains where he competed with Rob Mariano, Shallow Parvati etc. An infamous rivalry developed between him and a television personality named Boston Rob. For the game, he won the Sprint Player of the Season award and was also awarded $100,000.
To take on one of Boston Rob’s old rivals, Hantz returned to Survivor: Redemption Island. Unfortunately, he was removed from the game by Matt Elrod. In an interview with an American magazine, Entertainment Weekly, he threatened to take legal action for losing the immunity challenge against his tribemates.
Other television appearances
Russell Hantz along with ten other contestants from Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains had made a guest appearance to represent the show’s top ten list on The Last Show with David Letterman in 2010 on February 10th . On 14 th February 2011, he along with Rob Mariano he appeared on the cover of a TV Guide magazine.
The following year, Russell appeared on a reality television show titled ‘Flipped Off’. The show aired on the American television network A&E. the program was about buying income generating assets and reselling the asset for a profit. The show had seven episodes that aired from April 28 to June 16, 2012.

There was a rumor that he was having an affair with a girl named Parvati when he was married to Melanie. Parvati is one of the participants of ‘Survivor’.
