The actress was born on October 10, 1988 in Auckland, New Zealand as Frances Rose McIver. She was born at a young age to photographer father John George Whitfield ‘Mac’ McIver and artist mother Ann ‘Annie’. Her parents still reside in the house where she grew up in Titirangi. Additionally, she has an older brother, Paul McIver, who is also a former actor and musician.
Until the age of thirteen, Rose studied ballet and jazz dance. Regarding her education, she graduated from Avondale College in 2006 and was named a student prefect in her final year. Later, she joined the University of Auckland and studied psychology and linguistics. But she did not complete her degree due to her acting career.
