Ronda Rousey was born in Riverside, California, U.S on February 1, 1987. She has two siblings (sisters) and she’s the youngest of all three children. Rousey is the daughter of AnnMaria De Mars and Ronald John Rousey. Her mother, De Mars, was the first American to win a World Judo Championship in 1984.
Rousey suffered from Apraxia for the first six years of her life- Apraxia is a neurological childhood speech sound disorder.
Career
Ronda Rousey has moved from a career in Judo to Mixed Martial arts and then Professional wrestling. Amidst all these, she made a mark in each of her careers with several titles to her name.
Judo
Going by her mother’s Judo career, one could almost predict that Rousey would take up the path too. She started training with her mother at the age of 11 until she accidentally broke her mother’s wrist when she was 13. She was then taken to training centers to train with her mother’s old colleagues. Rousey qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens- she was the youngest judoka to qualify for the games (at age 17).
She however lost in her first match to Claudia Heill, but she made a good comeback in the same year when she won a gold medal at the World Junior Judo Championships in Hungary.
In 2006, Ronda Rousey became the first female U.S. judoka in 9 years to win an A-Level tournament. She claimed a gold medal at the Birmingham World Cup in Great Britain with a 5–0 win. Some of her honors/achievements during her Judo career include:

- Silver medal win at the 2007 World Judo Championships in the middleweight division

Rousey made her mixed martial arts debut on August 6, 2010, when she defeated Hayden Munoz by submission with her signature- armbar in 23 seconds. At the Tuff-N-Uff 145 lbs women’s tournament in November of the same year, she submitted promotional veteran, Autumn Richardson with an armbar in 57 seconds.

Ronda Rousey first made sporadic appearances at WWE in 2014 and continued until 2017 when she got signed by the company. She, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir dubbed themselves “The Four Horsewomen,” a copy of The Four Horsemen professional wrestling stable. The women’s title was endorsed by members, Ric Flair and Arn Anderson.
Rousey was first acknowledged along with the three members of the “Four Horsewomen” group in 2014. They had attended WWE SummerSlam in August that year and they were acknowledged on camera and in a commentary in the front row of the event.

Personal Life
Rousey is a vegan, although she has described her diet as a mix between a Paleo and a Warrior. She struggled with her body image due to how masculine she looked as a result of her career. She however got over her fears years after she left school.
The professional wrestler battled with suicidal thoughts in the aftermath of her knockout loss to Holly Holm in November 2015. She made this disclosure in an interview with TV host, Ellen DeGeneres.
Ronda Rousey is married to UFC fighter Travis Browne. They got married on August 28, 2017, in Hawaii. On September 27, 2021, they welcomed their first child- a girl named La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō Browne.
