- At the age of 8 he started showing his skills on the futsal pitches. It was also at this age that he received his popular name “Ronaldinho” as he was usually the smallest and youngest player in the club games.
- He gained national attention at the age of 13 after scoring 23 goals in his side’s 23-0 win over a local side.
- In 1999, Ronaldinho heralded his arrival at the national level by humiliating World Cup winner Dunga as he inspired Gremio to win the final at the Rio Grande do Sul State Championship. In one game, he flicked the ball over Dunga’s head before racing away while spreading it out with another mazy dribble.
- In 2001, English giants Arsenal tried to bring him to the English coast but the transfer fell through as he was unable to obtain a work permit because he was not an EU player and had not played enough games for his national team.

- In July 2015, Ronaldinho returned to Brazilian football by signing a contract with Fluminense. However, in September it was announced that he had reached an amicable agreement to terminate his contract as he was not happy with his performances.
- At the 2002 FIFA World Cup, he linked a deadly offensive partnership with Ronaldo and Rivaldo that played a key role in guiding Brazil to a record fifth World Cup title.
- After his team’s disappointing performance at the2006, he was the target of the anger of the Brazilian fans along with Adriano.
