He appeared in numerous supporting roles throughout a long career, but is best known for playing Sheriff Mort Metzger in “Murder, She Wrote.” Ten days after the protagonist of the famous series, Angela Lansbury, Ron Masak died, at the age of 86, at his residence in Thousand Oaks, California.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 1, 1936, Ron Masak studied drama at Chicago City College. He debuted as an actor in the mid-fifties in various plays. On television, he starred in series today considered legendary, such as Twilight Zone , Bewitched and Super Agent 86 , almost always in small roles.

In cinema, he appeared in titles such as Zebra Polar Station , and Tora! Torah! Torah! . In 1985, Ron Masak played the aforementioned Sheriff Metzger for the first time, always in need of the writer Jessica Fletcher to solve the crimes he must investigate, in Murder She Wrote . He appeared in 40 chapters, until the end of the series, in 1996. Since then, he has been shooting commercials for television, for which his colleagues nicknamed him “The King of Commercials.”

He never retired from acting. Upon his death, Ron Masak left the film The Curse of the Gorgon finished , and planned to participate in Quigley 2 . Throughout his life, he participated in numerous charitable events. He is survived by his wife, Kay, his six children and ten grandchildren.
