Ellen dated Bernie Leach (Timothy Bartlett) but ended up going back to Johnny for a short-lived affair. Ellen revealed to Minnie that she was the product of rape and was devastated when Carla attempted to murder her after she was severed. Ellen started dating David Kearney (Peter Elliott) but Ellen misinterpreted the arrival of
his wife and fled. The two reunited in Fiji where Ellen confessed she was pregnant.
The two were married but the death of their baby Rose (Georgia Bishop) the following year separated them and they both had affairs. They finally decided to get together but David felt compelled to stay with his girlfriend who was dying of cancer. All we did was… it was so simple – it felt like the New Zealand actors should be treated like every other actor in this production is treated.
