Roberto Cairo, the unforgettable Desi, friend of Antoñito Alcántara and the rest of the gang who met in the Tinín bar, has died at the age of 51 due to lung cancer. Although he had been dedicated to acting for two decades, and has done a lot of theater, film and television, it is thanks to this last medium and the emblematic television series Cuéntame for which he is popularly known. And it is that his character of a callista, who later evolved running an electrical appliance store, among other occupations, with his unmistakable wit, was a fixture of the series from the first of its 15 seasons to date, that is, since 2001.

In cinema, always as a secondary, he was in films such as I love your rich bed , The red squirrel , My soul brother , Allegro ma non troppo , Cachito , Brujas , Fugitivas and Miguel and William . And on the small screen, in addition to Cuéntame , he was seen in ¡Ay, Señor, Señor! , The thieves go to the office and Pharmacy on duty .

Eduardo Ladrón de Guevara , one of the creators of Cuéntame , has commented that “he was in love with life” and defined him as “a very confident actor, a great actor in comedies but that he also dominated the dramatic register very well”. Silvia Espigado , his wife Clara from him in the series, said that he has given “a dear friend and companion for more than 20 years.”

Other deceased actors from the series over the course of 14 years are José Sancho and Tony Leblanc .
