Rob Gibbs
A Pixar veteran, he had contributed his work to titles such as “Toy Story 2” or “Monsters, Inc.” Rob Gibbs, animator, writer and director, died in 2020, at the age of 55, according to a company spokesperson.
Born in Escondido, California, Rob Gibbs was fascinated as a child with Looney Tunes and other cartoon series. After graduating from Palomar College and Calarts School of the Arts, he began collaborating as an animator on titles such as Ferngully and Cool World , before being recruited by Walt Disney for visual development work on films such as Pocahontas , where he is also credited as a screenwriter.
In February 1998, he joined Pixar , where he first dealt with the storyboard for Toy Story 2 . He also performed various tasks in other productions of the house, such as Up , Upside Down and Monsters, Inc. , where his daughter, Mary Gibbs, provided the voice of Boo, the girl the two protagonists looked after. Shortly before his death, he had been working on Onward , and was developing the Monsters at Work series for Disney+.
