1. His father Ahmed was Algerian.
2. As a child he spent most of his holidays in Algeria.
3. When he was young, Mahrez had trouble finding a club because most would reject him because of his weak physique and because he wasn’t athletic enough. However, after some time of training, Riyadh managed to attract attention due to his football technique.
4. In 2004, Riyadh enrolled in the French youth team AAS Sarcelles.
5. In 2009 he moved to a club called Quimper. During his stay in the team, he lived with Guinean footballer Mathias Pogba, Paul Pogba’s older brother.
6. Mahrez joined French club Le Havre in 2010. Initially, he was part of Le Havre’s second team before becoming part of the first team, which competed in the French second division.
7. At first, Mahrez thought Leicester City was a rugby club.
