After feeling hungry almost every day, Ricky decided to adopt a healthier lifestyle when he realized he felt about two decades older than he actually was. The first step was to run and he eventually started to like it. What he loved most about running was being able to go out for a drink without worrying about a hangover.

He used to hit the neighborhood park for running and could barely manage to run a mile. But he eventually managed to hit 6 miles and realized he could still do more. He also eliminated unhealthy products from his diet and began practicing portion control, which helped him lose unwanted weight.

However, his attempt to work out at the gym didn’t work out well. He had hired Jamie Sawyer to help get him in shape, but he threw up every time Jamie made him circuit ride the rower, and the results of interval training were no different.

1. Before finding fame in the music industry, he worked as a lecturer at Leeds College of Art and Design. He did it a few times a week for about a year.
2. His band Kaiser Chiefs played rock clubs across Leeds for almost a decade before being signed by a major record label.

4. During his college days, he worked in the bars all Saturday, which helped him pay his rent.
5. In 1996 he formed his first music band called Runston Parva (that was an intentional misspelling of a Yorkshire hamlet called Ruston Parva). However, a few years later it was renamed the Kaiser Chiefs and new members were added as well.
6. At a concert in Portugal, he injured his ankle in an accident after jumping off the stage while crowd surfing.
7. In May 2006 he was hit by a car while walking on a pedestrian crossing in his hometown of Leeds. He jumped up just before the car was about to hit him, which helped avoid serious injury and instead only suffered from broken toes and some bruising.
