Richard LeParmentier, known for his role as an Empire officer in “Star Wars,” died at his home in Austin, Texas on April 15, 2013, at the age of 66. This character actor left behind a filmography that exceeds 50 films.

Born on July 16, 1946 in Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania), Richard LeParmentier spent part of his youth in Great Britain. There he made his film debut with a small role in The Idol , Michael Apted ‘s film about a musical group. Later he participated in Rollerball , where he played an unscrupulous assistant executive of the organization of the violent sport that Norman Jewison ‘s film revolves around .

Immediately after, Richard LeParmentier played his best-known role, Admiral Motti, in Star Wars . Fans of the George Lucas saga will remember the moment when Admiral Motti, an Imperial officer aboard the Death Star, questions Darth Vader for his failure to discover the location of the rebel base. Angered, he suffocates him using the power of the Force, only releasing him at the intercession of Grand Moff Tarkin ( Peter Cushing ). In 2012, the actor reprized his role in a small cameo for the video game “Kinect Star Wars.”

He played a journalist in Superman II , where his wife, the actress Sarah Douglas , also participated, the evil Kryptonian Ursa who with her two allies made things difficult for the leading superhero. Both also appeared in the series Space: 1999 , although in different episodes. The couple divorced in 1984. Another of Richard LeParmentier ‘s best-known roles was police lieutenant Santino, from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? by Robert Zemeckis .

His last feature film was The Berlin Conspiracy , from 1992.
