Richard Herd

He is associated with several science fiction series, and the comedy “Senfield”, but he was lavished in feature films as a secondary. Richard Herd passed away on May 26, 2020, at the age of 87, at his home in Los Angeles, as a result of cancer.

Born on September 26, 1932 in Boston (Massachusetts), Richard Herd  already suffered from small marrow cancer, which affected the growth of his legs. For this reason, he studied at a special school for disabled children. Several operations saved him from the deformity. Inspired by his mother’s love of music, he wanted to be a musician, but became more interested in performing.

After several plays, he made his film debut as a coach in Hercules in New York, the first film also by Arnold Schwarzenegger . He had a longer role in  The China Syndrome , where he played Evan McCormick, a corrupt gas company president. He also appears in titles like  Let Me Out  and  The Field of Onions .

Divorced in 1955 from Amilda Cuddy, with whom he had a son, he joined Dolores Wozadlo, who gave him two others, and later Patricia Crowder, mother of a daughter from a previous relationship. On television he was Joh, supreme commander of the Visitors, in the hit series V . In the field of the fantastic genre, he was also Admiral Noyce in  SeaQuest , and officer Owen Paris, in Star Trek Voyager . He also appeared on Seinfeld , as Wilhelm, George Costanza’s boss when he finds a job in the Yankees team organization.
