He is especially remembered by fans of “Star Trek”, such as Odo, head of security for the space station in the series “Deep Space 9”. René Auberjonois passed away on December 8, 2019, at the age of 79, as a result of lung cancer. “He was a wonderful, attentive and intelligent man. I will miss him when I look at the stars,” said George Takei, helmsman Hikaru Sulu, in the galactic saga.
Born in New York on June 1, 1940, René Auberjonois lavished himself on the Broadway theater. In 1970 he won the Tony Award for “Coco,” a musical about designer Coco Chanel, starring Katharine Hepburn herself .
He became popular with television viewers for Benson , where he played Clauton, the governor’s chief of staff, for seven seasons. She lavished a lot on film, with titles like MASH or The Eyes of Laura Marsh . She signed on in 1993, for the series Star Trek: Deep Space 9 , of which she shot a whopping 173 episodes, over seven seasons.
Married on October 19, 1963, to Judith Helen Mahalyi –who survives him–, the couple had two children also dedicated to acting, Tessa Auberjonois ( ER ) and Remy Auberjonois ( Michael Clayton ).
