It remains in the memory of fans of the series for “The Wire” and “House of Cards”. Actor Reg E. Cathey passed away on February 9, 2018 at the age of 59 after a time battling lung cancer. “He was unique,” series two creator Beau Willimon wrote on Twitter. “He was full of life, generosity, humor and brimming with talent. Loved by all who were lucky enough to know and work with him, he will be sorely missed.”

Born in Hunstsville (Alabama) on August 18, 1958, Reginald E. Cathey graduated in Theater from the University of Michigan. He began his journey as an actor in 1984 with the telefilm  Historia de un médico . Since then he has starred as a supporting role in titles like  Born on the 4th of July ,  The Mask ,  Seven  and  American Psycho .

Recognizable for his gravelly, highly personal voice,  Reg E. Cathey  began to emerge as journalist-turned-political consultant Norman Wilson on  The Wire , although he is also remembered as Freddy, owner of the restaurant where he eats barbecue ribs. Frank Underwood, the politician played by  Kevin Spacey . For this last work, he won the Emmy Award for Best Secondary in 2015.

In later years he was chief of police in  Outcast . At the time of his death, the drama  Tyrel had just premiered in the United States .
