The veteran American journalist was born on December 14, 1965 in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, United States. He grew up in a Christian family with his brother. His parents were Jerry and Janice Davis. But he did not reveal any information about his family and siblings.
Regarding education, after finishing high school, he joined the University of Alabama. From college, he earned a BA in Public Affairs and Broadcast News. During college, he had worked as a freelance television host, studio host, and radio personality.

Additionally, he has worked on SportsCenter, college football, and college basketball for the network. Besides that, he had hosted the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup. In 2015, he signed a multi-year contract with ESPN. The network announced that it would take over the College GameDay football roadshow as a host the same year.
